Everyone does their vacation differently. Some people like to get active – hitting the waves, cycling, or just shopping till they drop! On the other hand, some of us like to just chill. If that’s you, then finding a lazy river might be one of the best ways to do that on vacation.
So sit back, relax, grab a drink and picture yourself relaxing on a float on one of these 4 lazy rivers in Destin, FL.

1. Destin West
Destin West is a huge family resort on Okaloosa Island.
Yes. You read that right – it isn’t actually located in Destin, so don’t let that throw you off.

If you are looking for a monstrous lazy river, then you came to the right place. Destin West sports a 700-ft long lazy river and 7 pools.
Ready to relax yet?
Unfortunately, there aren’t any bars or restaurants at the pool so make sure you bring your own drinks (don’t forget the sunscreen!).
The lazy river and pool decks are open from 9AM – 10PM which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the sun.

2. Big Kahunas Water Park
Looking for a lazy river but also want to get moving and don’t mind the crowds?
Big Kahunas Waterpark in Destin is definitely for you.
With over 40 attractions, including a lazy river, you can’t go wrong if you are looking for some waterpark action.
What’s unique about Big Kahuna’s is that they offer more than just a “lazy” river. There are multiple types of “rivers,” each with varying speeds and functions. For example, Thunder River takes you through multiple twists and turns with sudden drops. Definitely not a “lazy” experience!
But, if you are just looking for a traditional lazy river experience, Big Kahuna’s does not disappoint.
Hours of operation are from 10AM – 6PM so keep that in mind!

3. Waterscape Resort
Waterscape sits right on the beach, so it offers not only a superb lazy river but a fantastic view, to boot.
Of course, you are getting more than just a lazy river, you are getting a multitude of other amenities:
- Hot tub
- Splash pad
- Grill area
- Kiddie Pool
- Fitness Room
- Waterfall
- Showers
- Boardwalk to the beach
There is a seasonal bar by the pool that serves food and drinks and is run by Fudpuckers. If you are looking for a lazy river where you can ride and have a drink, this is definitely the one to visit.
Why not also utilize the grill area? Waterscape offers enough amenities that you could spend the entire day by the pool if you so choose!
Lastly, there is no additional fee to use the lazy river if you are staying there. It’s even open in October, which I consider to be the best month to visit Destin.
The lazy river and pool hours of operation are 9AM – 5PM.

4. Henderson Beach Resort
The Henderson Beach Resort is the most expensive of the lazy river options but it does not disappoint. The resort is gorgeous and it’s still fairly new, originally opening in November 2016.
The Sea Level pool-side bar and grill offers casual dining, serving wraps, sandwiches, salads, and alcoholic drinks like frozen cocktails. I am definitely a huge fan of having a nice alcoholic beverage while I cook in the sun so this is a plus! They are open from 11AM – 6PM.
